First World War British War Medal awarded to TZ/5137 Able Seaman Ernest William Woodhouse, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve. Born 9/2/1894 in Jarrow on Tyne. Woodhouse was a former miner who was drafted from the 2nd. Btn. R.N. Depot to 3rd. Reserve Btn. Blandford in 1915. He later joined Nelson Btn. and served with the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force. After spending some time in hospital and in detention Woodhouse served with 189th. and 190th. Machine Gun Co. with the B.E.F. in France. Demobalised 14/2/1919.
