WW1 Pair awarded to 2040624 Gunner William Edwin Charlsworth, Canadian Field Artillery. Born in Manchester, England, an electrician by trade. Charlsworth enlisted in May 1917 and served in No1. section Divisional Ammunition Column and No5. DFT 65 Battery. He had previously served in in the Territorial Force for 2 years. Whilst serving in France, Charlsworth was kicked by a gun mule causing an injury to one of his eyes. He later became ill with influenza, discharged – 12/7/1919.
