96546 Pte George Oliver Boon 20th. Battalion Durham Light Infantry (Wearside Pals). Born in Frosterly, County Durham in 1898 he served with the 20th Battalion throughout his War service.The limestone quarry man joined the Home Guard in June 1940. He served with the 16th. Battalion Durham Home Guard as an N.C.O being promoted to Company Sgt. Major in 1942. Later that year he was promoted to Second Lieutenant. He received his defence medal in 1949 and died in 1959, a resident of Wolsingham, County Durham. All medals on original ribbons, sold with copies of some WW1 papers and his Home Guard papers etc.
