First World War Trio awarded to 1059 Gnr. Jesse M. Mortimer West Riding Bty. Royal Field Artillery (Territorial Force). Born in Bradford and later resident of Bramley, Leeds, Mortimer joined the Army in June 1913 (T.F.). The former Spinner in the textiles industry served with the Royal Field Artillery as a signaler and gunner. He also served under the service number – 775169. Jesse Mortimer was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) for conspicuous gallantry in constantly mending wires under an intense shell fire. He displayed great coolness and his devotion to duty was most marked (L.G. 11/03/1916). Mortimer was discharged in March 1919, comes with copy of DCM citation, pension records, MIC etc.
