WW1 Victory Medal awarded to 817 Sgt. Joseph Hadfield 27th. Australian Infantry. Born in Manchester, Lancashire. Hadfield joined the Army in Feb.1915 and transferred from the Base Depot to 27th. Infantry Battalion in April of that year. Whilst serving with the M.E.F. in Gallipoli he was admitted to hospital with enteric fever. Sgt. Hadfield later served in France. He sadly suffered a gun shot wound to the head and left leg on the 5th.May 1917. He died of his wounds two days later. He is buried in Grevillers Cemetery, France. Comes with a wealth of service papers.
