WW1 HMS Cap tally in wire on silk with small lettering and full stops. During the First World War the Admiralty regulation was for cap tallies to be worn without the ships name, as was the practice in the Second World War. As we know from photographic evidence from WW1 the regulation was not adhered to as we see both versions in use during the war. The lettering and full stops on this tally are much smaller than the WW2 versions, this tally is tied as worn.
