RAF Officers Mess Dress Uniform Attributed Air Vice Marshall

Burton tailored jacket/open back/Waistcoat and trousers (38″ chest 32-33″ waist)

Air vice marshall cuff insignia & gold wire padded pilots breast wings.

UNFORTUNATELY NOT NAMED BUT BELONGED TO  Robert Leslie Davis CB

This mess dree belonged to Robert Leslie Davis CB, on joining the RAF in 1952, Cranwell flights cadets.

He was promoted in 1953, 1955, then became squadron leader in 1961.

Awarded the queens commendation for valuable service in the air in 1966.

Promoted from wing commander to group captain in 1972, and awarded companion of the order of bath. (New years honours 1983).

He was commander British forces Cyprus from 1980-1983.

Davis was officer commanding no.19 SQN, deputy director operations (air defence) at the MOD and station commander at RAF leuchars.

He was also air attaché in Washington DC. (served – 1952-1983)
