WWI And WWII Father And Son Group (KIA)
28060 PTE. Johnson Newton, B. Coy 1st/5th Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment.
Born 1882, Sunderland, Former labourer joined the army in August 1915.
Deserted in October 1916 and was given one year detention.
Returned to service and went MIA in April 1918; he was then KIA 10/04/1918.
Commemorated – Beuvy Communal Cemetery Extension III. C. 31, France died aged 37.
Henry Havelock Newton was born in Sunderland on the 17th of May 1914 Shortly before his Father (Johnson) went to war.
Henry served during the second world war under the service number 30603125.
Unfortunately we do not know which unit.
Group comes with box of issue (Addressed to Newton at a Sunderland address) and his ID tags and ribbon bar.
